Advances in educational assessment:
Analytical support for educational test development

About

EduTest is a multidisciplinary research project administered by the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic as part of the ETA Programme for Applied Research, Experimental Development and Innovation in Social Sciences and Humanities. The project joins experts in psychometrics and educational assessment from the Faculty of Education of the Charles University and from the Institute of Computer Science of the Czech Academy of Sciences.

The project aims at developing tools for complex analysis of data from educational tests. Its ambition is to enhance the quality of test development and data analysis using advanced psychometric methods. Another aim is to improve the usability of educational tests as feedback instruments in the process of reflecting on the quality of education.

The project links current research in psychometrics with the development of technical tools that facilitate data processing and enable automated creation of tailored reports. In doing so it makes advanced psychometric methods more accessible to testing institutions, schools, and professionals in the field of educational assessment, thereby supporting the implementation of those methods in routine processes of construction, validation, and analysis of educational tests.

The end user of the project results and the application guarantor is the Centre for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement (CERMAT), a government agency responsible for high-stakes testing in secondary schools.
